ANCW Bylaws and Policy Changes
DENVER, Colo. (July 25, 2012) — Several changes to the by-laws and policies and procedures were recommended to the American National CattleWomen (ANCW) Executive Committee by the ANCW Bylaws, Policies and Procedures, and Resolutions Committee.
The resolution regarding the estate tax is superseded by national law, thus was tabled.
The Credentials Committee was dissolved in the bylaws and was replaced with a credentials approval team, which will be named by the president. This addition to the president’s duties will be added in the policies and procedures. The rationale is that it will be easier for the president to appoint a credentials approval team rather than trying to find volunteers to serve on the committee with relative uncertainty.
Electronic meetings were addressed in the bylaws due to little explanation in Robert’s Rules of Order. Requirements for electronic meetings via conference call, video and web conferencing were added to the appropriate bylaws and procedures, as were procedures for email meetings, which are not recommended.
First year ANCW dues will be waived for collegiate members.
The Animal Well-Being Committee’s bylaw change, which changed committee members elected from each state to each region. It was added to procedures that committee members may be re-elected each year after their one-year term so it is applicable to all committees.
It was decided to work on an amendment to the policies and procedures concerning resolutions before the winter meeting, and another referring to committee terms.
Changing the name of the current lifetime membership (awarded to past ANCW presidents and charter members) to honorary life members in order to create a lifetime membership for a set fee was also discussed.
