Visit the Angus Trade Show
More than 130 trade show exhibitors will welcome participants to the 2015 Angus Means Business National Convention & Trade Show, Nov. 3-5 at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kan. From animal health companies to equipment manufacturers, registered-Angus breeders to publications, there’s something for everyone on the trade show floor.
“Our trade show is more than double the size from 2014, and we’re looking forward to convention attendees experiencing all the trade show has to offer,” says Becky Weishaar, Creative Media director for Angus Media and lead contact for the event. “Each exhibitor brings something different, and our partners have planned some engaging activities within their booths this year.”
Stop by the Caterpillar booth, 529, to participate in the Skid Steer Loader Operator Challenge and test drive the Cat® 262D Skid Steer Loader, which will be given away to one convention attendee on Tuesday, Nov. 3. At the Priefert booth, 831, you can also check out their S0191 Model Squeeze Chute — another giveway scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5.

Wildfire Season in Texas
The recent Bastrop County fire that burned more than 4,600 acres in Texas served as a warning to landowners and rural homeowners that additional wildfires may be on the horizon.
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service officials said early spring and summer rains promoted a lot of grass and forage growth, which can serve as wildfire fuel as it dries down. Now is the time to plan — before the next fire starts — to mitigate damages, they said.
To indicate how dry things are getting and the potential of fire, the Texas A&M Forest Service reported on Oct. 19 there had been 117 fires on 9,013 acres in the past seven days, primarily in East and Central Texas. The forecast for fire danger has shifted from primarily Central and East Texas to include the Rolling Plains and the eastern portion of the Texas Panhandle as having high or very high fire ratings and increasingly dry fuel.
