The American Angus Association, the nation’s largest beef registry association with more than 32,000 adult and junior members, announces that, effective immediately, it will begin to accept applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer.  Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of all segments of the beef industry, from seedstock production through consumption.  Such knowledge should include a thorough understanding of member services, branded beef programs, publication and promotion, genetic evaluation and procedures, and a recognition of the importance of how industry and the breed both benefit from the involvement of our youth.

The Chief Executive Officer serves as the chief administrative officer of the American Angus Association and also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of each of the Association’s subsidiaries: Angus Productions Inc., Certified Angus Beef LLC, Angus Genetics Inc., and the Angus Foundation.  These combined entities currently have assets totaling in excess of $33.7 million.  Additionally, this individual performs those duties associated with the position that are delineated in Article VI, Section 6.8 of the Association’s Bylaws.  Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO also develops and recommends to the Board those policies, plans and programs that will effectively meet the needs and the challenges of the membership, and that will enhance the growth and reputation of the Angus breed and the American Angus Association. Lastly, the position is responsible for overseeing the performance of some 200 employees.  In short, the CEO must be able to run a sophisticated, dynamic business.

Candidates shall have obtained an undergraduate degree in an agriculture-related field or in business.  Education and training in animal science or animal husbandry would be viewed as a positive.  It is essential that candidates possess excellent communication skills, sufficient to permit them to interact easily and effectively with the Association’s diverse membership, industry peers, academicians, professional staff members and the Board.

A competitive compensation package will be provided to the selected candidate with an equally appropriate benefits package.

All applications will be treated in strict confidence.  Applications should consist of a cover letter and a résumé.  They should be sent to Paul E. Donnelly, Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP, 1201 Walnut, Suite 2900, Kansas City, MO 64106-2150 on or before Friday, March 21, 2008.  Questions may be directed in writing to pdonnelly@stinson.com.

The American Angus Association firmly supports the principal and philosophy of equal opportunity for all individuals regardless of age, race, sex, creed, national origin, physical or mental handicap, disabled veteran, or veteran of the armed forces.
