Online Coverage of Range Beef Cow Symposium Begins Tuesday

Angus Productions Inc. (API) begins coverage of the 2007 Range Beef Cow Symposium by covering a pre-symposium workshop hosted by Crystalyx. The workshop begins today at 1 p.m. Mountain Time. Range Beef Cow Symposium XX begins Tuesday morning and continues through Thursday. Both events are at “The Ranch,” the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex, Fort Collins, Colo. Online coverage of the events will be available beginning Tuesday in the newsroom at www.rangebeefcow.com.

Producers and researchers will explore ways to improve the management of grazing land during the pre-symposium workshop hosted Dec. 10 by Crystalyx. “Don’t Fence Me In: Using Animal Behavior and Low-Moisture Block Supplements to Manage Pastures” will feature research from authorities on animal behavior and livestock nutrition, as well as producers who have used modified grazing distribution successfully.

Range Beef Cow Symposium XX is sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Service and animal science departments of South Dakota State University, Colorado State University, the University of Wyoming and the University of Nebraska. The biennial symposium has a reputation of being an excellent educational program, offering practical production management information since the first symposium in Chadron, Neb., in 1969. Evening “bull pen” sessions provide time for attendees to have considerable discussion with the speakers and an opportunity to ask specific questions. The majority of symposium speakers on Tuesday and Wednesday will be present in the evening following their presentations.

Commercial displays representing many segments of the industry are an integral part of the symposium. Exhibitors will be present to discuss their products, plus information on newly-released products will be available.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s electronic media team will provide streaming video of the conference. A link is available at www.rangebeefcow.com. A Real Player will be required to view the video. Visit the site’s newsroom after the conference for API’s coverage of the presentations, including summaries as well as PowerPoint presentations and proceedings, if available. A link to the audios will be provided following the conference.

For more information about the symposium contact Nancy Weiss (970-491-7604 or nancy.weiss@colostate.edu) or Jack Whittier (970-491-6233 or jack.whittier@colostate.edu).

API publishes the Angus Journal and the Angus Beef Bulletin, as well as providing online coverage of events and topics pertinent to cattlemen. API coverage of the Range Beef Cow Symposium XX is made available for distribution to all media via an agreement with the Range Beef Cow Symposium Committee and API.
