Ken Troutt Memorial Scholarship

Applications are now being taken for the 12th Annual Ken Troutt Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship fund has been established in memory of Ken Troutt, renowned auctioneer for the Northwest and Cowman’s Classic All Breed Bull Sale. Scholarships of $500 will be announced at the Feb. 27 “Cowman’s Classic” All Breed Bull Sale in Spokane, Wash.

To be eligible, youths (1) must be incoming freshman in fall 2007, enrolled in a college or technical school, and (2) be an individual or son/daughter of an individual that has consigned or purchased bulls in the Cowman’s Classic within the last three year’s sales.

Summer Internships Offered at Accelerated Genetics for 2007

Accelerated Genetics is offering three types of summer internships to college students for summer 2007. The internships will be in advertising and public relations, sales and service, and marketing services. Accelerated Genetics’ internships provide an excellent variety of opportunities to work “hands-on” within the artificial insemination (AI) industry, and to network and gain valuable experiences that will help students prepare for a future career.

Advertising and public relations intern: The advertising and public relations intern is based at Accelerated Genetics’ administrative headquarters in Baraboo, Wis. The intern will be responsible for a variety of projects within the areas of public relations, print advertising, audiovisual, web and written communications as well as receive a broad range of experience with all Accelerated Genetics programs and services.

Interested candidates should be proficient in both written and oral communication as well as have good computer skills. Training will be given in all areas. Sales and service interns: As a sales and service intern, individuals will develop skills in AI, learn about reproductive services such as estrus synchronization programs and the ASAP® program, as well as receive a broad range of experience in all marketing division positions and Accelerated Genetics programs. These interns will provide relief service for assigned AI technicians, conduct market penetrations studies, and assist with retail sales routes.

Marketing services intern: The marketing services intern will assist with photography efforts of Accelerated Genetics’ dairy sires and offspring, and in hosting tours for international and domestic tour groups, as well as receive a broad range of experience with all Accelerated Genetics programs and services.
