Foundation Accepting YCC Nominations
Oct. 19, 2005 Every year, the Angus Foundation, in coordination with the American Angus Association, selects one participant to sponsor on the Young Cattlemens Conference (YCC) a conference and tour developing future leaders in the beef industry. The event focuses on developing leadership skills in young producers and exposing them to many aspects of the cattle industry. The conference covers industry structure, management issues, production research, marketing and more. The 2006 conference will mark the YCC programs 27th year. The tour will begin June 1, 2006, in Denver, Colo., with an overview of the beef cattle industry. Participants will travel to Kansas to visit various cattle operations and continue on to Sioux City, Neb., where they will tour Tyson Fresh Meats. The group will then arrive in Chicago, Ill., where they will visit the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Bruss Co., a meat purveyor. Finally, the YCC tour ends in Washington, D.C., where participants will meet their respective congressmen and senators, and visit various regulatory agencies affecting the agriculture industry. The tour concludes June 8. Angus breeders interested in applying must be between the ages of 25 and 50 and must be a member of the National Cattlemens Beef Association (NCBA). Each participant will arrive in Denver May 31 and will depart from Washington, D.C., June 9. Sponsorship by the Foundation covers flight costs and registration fees. Incidental costs and meals are not included. Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, Jan. 6, 2006. Visit www.angusfoundation.org/ycc.html for more information or to download an application and/or instruction sheet. Contact the Angus Foundation at (816) 383-5100 for further details. |
